The Founding Trio
RomeMovies began in 2017 as a side project between three friends who noticed that every English-language list of "Rome filming locations" stopped at the Trevi Fountain and called it done. We have been walking those lists into the ground ever since.
Editor-in-Chief & Co-Founder
Licensed Rome city guide since 2009 and film critic for Cineforum since 2011. Lucia edits the long-form location essays and has walked every route in the database at least twice. She lives in Trastevere, eight minutes from the Fountain of the Four Rivers.
Database Director & Co-Founder
Former archivist at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and Rome correspondent for Screen International from 2005 to 2019. Alessandro maintains the 243-film index, verifies location coordinates on foot, and writes the weekly newsletter. He still keeps a Rolodex of 47 location scouts.
Guides Editor & Co-Founder
Rome-raised, London-trained, and back in her hometown since 2014. Sara designs the self-guided walking itineraries, negotiates with the 84 tour operators who license our content, and runs our partnership with the Roma Tourism Board. She has a working knowledge of 240 film routes.

A Short History
Three Rome-based film critics and licensed city guides launch the site as a side project. The first index covers 38 films; the first walking guide is for Roman Holiday.
The weekly Rome Film Letter crosses 41,800 subscribers. Monthly unique readership reaches 187,000 visitors by Q3 2024 (Similarweb). The mobile app ships on iOS and Android.
RomeMovies is invited to author the official "Cinema di Roma" self-guided walk — a printed map and audio companion covering 22 verified sites across the historic centre.
A six-minute segment on set-jetting uses Rome as its case study, citing the Rome Film Map and quoting the editorial team. Site traffic triples in the following week.
